This true lavender, also known as Kashmir lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), is cultivated using nature-aligned farming methods at an altitude of over 2000m in the sheltered Kashmir Valley of the Himalayas in Northern India. The unique high-altitude climate with extreme temperature fluctuations – from cool nights to intensely sunny days – creates ideal conditions for an extraordinarily harmonious aromatic spectrum. Containing nearly 49% linalyl acetate and 28% linalool, the essential oil achieves the highest ester values while remaining completely free of camphor. At the peak harvest time in midsummer, the fresh inflorescences are carefully harvested by hand and processed on site by experienced distillers via gentle steam distillation to create this velvety-soft, floral-sweet essential oil.

Lavandula angustifolia
True lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae). Native to the Mediterranean region, this Kashmir lavender develops its own unique character in the Indian Himalayas. It grows compactly and bushily with grey-green leaves; in high and late summer, its fragrant, up to 8cm-long spikes bloom with pale to dark purple flowers. The extreme altitude forms an extraordinarily mild fragrance profile, making it a true rarity.
