Our original BioAstin® Astaxanthin is extracted from the algae Haematococcus pluvialis in Hawai'i. BioAstin® comes from the state's only microalgae farm in a "Biosecure Zone," where the use of pesticides, chemical fertilisers and genetically modified organisms is prohibited. This guarantees the highest purity of the algae, free from frequent contamination with pesticides, heavy metals or other toxins, as proven by regular laboratory tests. A state-of-the-art balance in the cultivation tanks prevents the growth of foreign algae, which leads to contamination in many astaxanthin products from open cultivation tanks.
The algae generate their strength and vitality in open cultivation tanks. The special location of the Kona coast of Hawai'i offers sunlight all year round, so that the algae can grow continuously for 12 months of the year. Sustainable cultivation takes place in the island's ultra-pure spring water, which is purified and reused several times to conserve resources and does not cause land erosion. The lava rock and Pacific deep sea water ensure a rich and natural supply of minerals and trace elements. Production is 100% vegan, without the use of fish meal.
In contrast to completely synthetically produced astaxanthin, which is synthesised from petroleum chemicals or from yeast, our BioAstin® astaxanthin is of completely natural origin and is integrated into a natural complex of other phytochemicals. The raw material BioAstin® is an extract of Haematococcus that contains astaxanthin with safflower oil as a natural carrier oil, which has a particularly high oleic acid content. Gentle spray-drying using the ocean chill method at low temperatures preserves the full content of valuable carotenoids.
Astaxanthin also fat-soluble and shows the best bioavailability as a liquid. This is why our capsules do not contain astaxanthin powder, but of liquid astaxanthin dissolved in pure, high-quality MCT coconut oil. The manufacturer of our coconut MCT oil can confirm that no monkeys are used to harvest the coconuts. Our airtight and leak-proof GreenCaps help protect the selected oil-based raw materials from oxidation. The capsule shells are filled using nitrogen gas and then hermetically sealed, ensuring optimal freshness and extending the product's shelf life. Unlike most other HPMC capsules on the market, our GreenCaps are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans, PEG and gelatine. They are vegan, gluten-free and allergen-free. Once the capsules are ready, we package them in environmentally friendly amber glass jars.
