AHCC® is a standardised extract obtained from the mycelium of the shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes mycelium). This Active Hexose Correlated Compound is produced via a patented extraction process, for which the shiitake mycelium undergoes a unique, multi-stage process of cultivation and fermentation with the help of select enzymes. In contrast to conventional shiitake extracts, which mainly contain beta-glucans, this process creates an extract with an exceptionally high content of bioavailable, short-chain alpha-glucans.
The alpha-glucans in conventional functional mushrooms are mostly long-chain. AHCC® therefore possesses the unique bioavailability of short-chain alpha-glucans, which can only be achieved through this patented production method. Our AHCC® is produced without genetic engineering and is free from gluten, soy, lactose, and chemical solvents.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We use environmentally friendly amber glass jars for the packaging of this product.
