How are we different?
All of our vegetarian vitamin D products contain premium vitamin D3 as an active ingredient, which is custom-made according to our strict specifications and without any additives except vitamin E and a high quality MCT coconut oil as a carrier oil. This product is notable for its purity and guaranteed vitamin D3 content. Vitamin D3 products often contain a wide variety of different additives, including some that are not legally required to be declared, such as synthetic vitamin E, ascorbyl palmitate, silicon dioxide, modified starch, sucrose, denatured vegetable oils and maltodextrin. However, our vitamin D3 is ultra pure due to our unique production process
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that can only be absorbed by the body when combined with fats. Our vitamin D3 is therefore dissolved in MCT coconut oil and then dried to make a fine powder. The powder also contains fat-soluble vitamin E in the form of natural D-alpha-tocopherol. As a result, it exists in a form that can be readily absorbed by the body. The high-quality, medium-chain fatty acids of the MCT oil and vitamin E offer valuable nutrients themselves.
In order to achieve an even distribution of vitamin D3 in the active ingredient powder and thus a precise dosage, only highly pure, 100% nanoparticle-free microcrystalline cellulose is used. Our vitamin D3 powder is also rich in high-quality MCT coconut oil for optimal absorption of fat-soluble vitamin D3. Natural vitamin E protects the active ingredient from oxidation, allowing for a prolonged shelf life.
The only other ingredient we use is premium gum arabic cultivated without pesticides. In contrast to the usual synthetic fillers, we use an ultra pure natural filler that is also rich in dietary fibre. Our gum arabic is sourced from climate neutral, resource-saving, sustainable and fair cultivation.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC capsules that can be found on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We use environmentally friendly amber glass jars for the packaging of this product.

Vitamin D
Vitamin D3 naturally occurs almost exclusively in animal sources, particularly in fish, dairy products, eggs and meat. Plants, such as lichens and various fungi, contain only very small amounts of the much less effective form of vitamin D2.
Vitamin D plays a very important role in the body. It is one of the few vitamins that is not absorbed directly from food, but rather produced by skin cells from sunlight. It is not a vitamin in the traditional sense of the word, but rather a pro-hormone. In contrast to many other vitamins, vitamin D is converted into an important hormone which regulates cell functioning and bodily processes. Almost all bodily cells have special receptors for the vitamin D hormone that are dependent on sufficient supply.
Vitamin D is still being intensively researched. New mechanisms of action of this fascinating vitamin are discovered almost every year. So far, the following statements on vitamin D have been released by the EU (EFSA):

Daily Requirements
The different information on the recommended dosage of vitamin D can be confusing. Recommendations vary greatly from organisation to organisation. For adults, for example, the EU recommends 200 IU, while the German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends 800 IU. However, many researchers and non-profit organisations consider these recommendations to be too low to effectively prevent a deficiency. For example, the Endocrine Society recommends 1500-2000 IU and the Vitamin D Council (USA) 3000 - 6000 IU.
