How are we different?
Our buffered vitamin C plus zinc contains acid-free vitamin C in the form of calcium L-ascorbate, combined with zinc bisglycinate and citrus bioflavonoids from bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) extract. The combination of vitamin C with alkaline calcium creates the acid-free active ingredient calcium ascorbate, which is particularly stomach-friendly and well tolerated even by those with sensitive digestion. The included citrus bioflavonoids from bitter orange extract provide natural phytochemicals.
Maize or citrus fruits are very commonly used for the production of high-dose vitamin C, which have their own quality concerns. We intentionally use only non-GMO maize as a raw material. The end result is highly concentrated vitamin C, completely free from maize and residues of chemical solvents.
Each capsule also provides 7.5mg zinc in the form of zinc bisglycinate, where zinc is bound as a chelate to the amino acid glycine. For consistently high quality, we use pure zinc bisglycinate from vegan production with a high active ingredient purity of at least 98%.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We package this product in amber glass jars instead of plastic to protect the ingredients from light.
Effects
Vitamin C is involved in numerous redox reactions as an antioxidant and cofactor, thus influencing numerous processes in the human body, such as energy metabolism and the immune system, and providing antioxidative protection to cells. It is also involved in the formation of collagen, the structural protein found in skin, cartilage, bones and blood vessels, as well as in the synthesis of hormones.
High concentrations of vitamin C are found naturally in fresh fruits, vegetables and berries such as camu camu, sea buckthorn berry, acerola cherry, rosehip, black currant, kale, parsley, kiwis and citrus fruits, among others.

Daily Requirements
The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends a daily intake of 100mg of vitamin C. The recommended daily dose according to the EFSA is 80mg.
Vitamin C should be taken in several doses throughout the day, as the level of vitamin C in the blood drops relatively soon after intake and the body can only absorb a certain amount into the tissue at a time (saturation).
Contraindications
Not suitable for children or adolescents. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this product. The product may have a laxative effect; in this case, its use should be discontinued.
