Finest Origin - Highest Grade

Wild Swiss pines grow in the high Alps at elevations of 1600 to 2400 metres. The extreme weather conditions, including temperature fluctuations, strong UV radiation, winds and frost at these high elevations, act as a natural ‘stress cure’ for the Swiss pine. This leads to a highly concentrated and rich formation of ingredients and aromas in the Swiss pine trees. An exceptionally high proportion of approximately 90% of the essential oil consists of monoterpenes such as α- and β-pinene, β-phellandrene and limonene. These valuable properties make Swiss stone pine a truly ‘healthy wood’, which is why it is considered sacrilegious to use the wood as firewood. As Swiss pine stocks in South Tyrol are now protected, forest owners offer local distilleries the opportunity to collect the tree remains from the forest after controlled felling. To produce the unique essential oil, the branches with needles are chopped up shortly before distillation and then distilled for several hours using steam.

Farm

This family-run company has been producing essential oils and herbal products for over 110 years and has been certified organic since 1995. The plants used to produce the essential oils come either from the company's own organic cultivation, from Demeter-certified cultivation by a regional producer, or from the company's own controlled wild collection, which always follows the principles of sustainable forestry. With respect for nature and the knowledge of their ancestors, the fourth generation of the company carries out all work by hand, from harvesting to bottling. For example, harvesting by hand in tune with the rhythm of nature preserves the vitality of the plants. The joy and passion of producing high-quality, sustainable products in harmony with nature is reflected in the outstanding quality of the essential oils.

Swiss Pine

The Swiss pine (Pinus cembra) is a very unusual species in the pine family (Pinaceae). It grows at elevations between 1600m and 2400m. This conifer can grow up to 40m tall and reach an astonishing age of up to 1000 years. Its many dark green, soft needles do not grow in pairs but in clusters of five slightly twisted needles with a length of 5-12cm. The Swiss pine forms small upright cones that are purple to brown in colour. Due to the harsh living conditions in the alpine heights, where it is exposed to temperatures as low as -40 degrees, strong storms and enormous snow loads, the swiss pine grows slowly and persistently. On particularly hot summer days, a fascinating natural phenomenon known as blue haze can be observed in dense Swiss pine forests: to protect themselves from intense UV radiation and heat, Swiss pines release large amounts of essential oils, mainly monoterpenes, which are then visible as blue light above the treetops.

Aroma

The gentle, woody scent of Swiss pine has been proven to relieve stress and can have a positive effect on sleep quality. Swiss pine oil can prolong deep sleep phases and reduce heart rate during the night. This has a positive effect on general well-being and can improve mental and physical health.
