We source this essential oil from a renowned and certified producer located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The company was founded in the early 20th century and has cooperation partners worldwide, small to large farms, where the plants' origin and quality are well monitored. The essential oils are extracted on site either by gentle steam distillation in a stainless steel tank or by cold pressing. The first certified organic products date back to 2001.
Silver fir
The silver fir (Abies alba) is native to western, southern and central Europe. This evergreen tree from the fir genus (Abies) belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae). The tree reaches a height of up to 50 metres, grows at elevations of up to 2,000 metres and can live for 500 to 600 years. The suffix “alba” refers to the white-grey bark of the trees. The silver fir has been used as a medicinal and healing plant since ancient times, and in the Middle Ages it was considered a symbol of strength due to its majestic growth. The needles, shoots, cones, seeds and resin were mainly used. An infusion of the fresh shoots, for example, helped against spring fatigue and bronchitis.
