Finest Origin - Highest Grade

This Siberian fir thrives in eastern Iceland. It enjoys a rather mild oceanic climate throughout the year, which is characterised by the influence of the warm Gulf Stream and Irminger Current. The land of volcanoes is characterised by notoriously changeable weather with strong winds and storms. These climatic conditions lead to the development of complex, natural ingredients in the essential oils of the trees, such as bornyl acetate, camphene, α-pinene and borneol, which are responsible for the unmistakable scent of Siberian fir oil. The exclusively fresh twigs and needles are sustainably harvested by hand. They are a by-product of existing sustainable forest management, resulting from thinning and pruning. Immediately after harvesting, the twigs are distilled using gentle steam that comes from pure Icelandic water and green energy generated from waterfalls and geothermal water.

Farm

We source this essential oil from a passionate producer who runs a small essential oil factory in southwest Iceland. Most of the plant material is harvested by hand. The producer is a trained aromatherapist and also works in Iceland's state forestry. At the heart of her business is the protection of her unique region, her commitment to sustainability and the production of her essential oils. No trees are cut down for the production; she uses twigs and branches that are periodically left over from the pruning and thinning of forests as part of Icelandic forestry practices. The equipment she uses for distillation is recycled. She uses a 500-liter milk tank, a condenser and stainless steel pipes that was acquired from an old dairy farm. The small production quantities, the method of production and the regionality make her essential oils particularly special.

Siberian Fir

The Siberian fir (Abies sibirica), which belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae), is native to the taiga and boreal forests. It is one of the predominant tree species in European Russia, to the west and east of the Siberian taiga. The tree is considered robust and hardy and thrives in subarctic climates characterised by extreme cold and humidity. The essential oil of the tree has always been considered a respiratory remedy and revitalising energy tonic and has a strong affinity for strengthening and balancing the body's energy associated with breathing. Traditionally, the essential oil is used for its restorative, decongestant and relaxing effect on the lungs and bronchi.

Aroma

The unmistakable, refreshing conifer scent with green-balsamic undertones conveys vitality, endurance and stamina. The aroma can help us to withstand difficult conditions.
