How are we different?

Our premium organic schisandra extract is derived from whole magnolia berries cultivated organically on the finest arable land of Shanxi Province in schisandra's native North China. The natural extraction process is conducted entirely using pure water and concentrates the valuable ingredients roughly tenfold. No further solvents such as methanol or acetone are used, so the natural purity of the high-quality, organic plant is fully preserved.

Next, the highly concentrated extract is gently spray dried, which ensures that schisandra's active ingredients are not lost in this crucial step. The only further processing required is filling our ultra-pure capsules with the dried extract. As a result, the capsules contain only 100% pure schisandra extract, with no additives or carriers.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Schisandra

Schisandra is a type of liana plant from the star anise family. The small, reddish berries of the plant, also known as magnolia berries, or as wu wei zi in China, have been used traditionally in East Asia for over 2,000 years. The dried fruits have a unique taste that encompasses all five flavour categories (sweet, sour, salty, bitter and spicy). These five flavours - gave the berry its name (Wu = five).
