This bergamot plantation is located in the well-known region of Calabria, Italy, which offers the ideal microclimate for the trees to thrive by promoting the harmonious development of the natural ingredients in the plants. After harvesting the fruit, the trees are pruned by hand between January and March. The fresh young shoots from the pruning are processed in the local distillery using gentle steam to produce this aromatic essential oil. The special aroma and intensity of the essential oil are based on the many years of experience and passion of the farmers in cultivation, harvesting and distillation, as well as the select terroir of Calabria.

Farm

The producer of our high-quality essential oil is a small family-run company that has been growing, cultivating, harvesting and processing its own citrus fruits and those from cooperatives since around 1950. The company is located in the heart of Calabria, Italy. The fresh citrus fruits are harvested and processed throughout the year and are processed for essential oil production from October to January. The 100% natural, certified organic essential oils are gently extracted in our own production facility using cold pressing.

Bergamot

The evergreen bergamot tree (Citrus bergamia) belongs to the rue family (Rutaceae). The tree, which grows to a height of around 5m, is a hybrid of the bitter orange and citron. It forms a rounded crown with winged leaf stalks and its white, star-shaped, aromatic flowers develop into pale yellow pear-shaped round fruits. Today, the bergamot is mainly cultivated in Calabria due to its aroma, which is much sought after by the perfume industry.

Aroma

The green-citrusy floral aroma gives harmony, strength and balance. It has a tension-relieving and anxiety-relieving effect.
