How are we different?
This premium raw spirulina powder comes from controlled organic cultivation: it is gently processed and finely ground at a low temperature to preserve its nutrients. The cultivation process is extremely important in ensuring the spirulina's high quality.
The spirulina algae grow in large, open cultivation tanks in a special, organic culture medium under conditions that are as close to natural as possible. They are harvested using sieving machines that filter the single-celled microalgae out of the water, which are then spray-dried. Spray drying is a common method for producing a dry powder from moist raw materials. The result of this production process is a concentrated, non-sterilised, nutrient-rich organic spirulina powder with a very fine particle size and a mild flavour.

Spirulina platensis
Spirulina platensis (Arthrospira platensis) is a cyanobacterium originating in Central and East Africa. Now also widespread in Central America, the algae has been in use for hundreds of years in the cuisine of its countries of origin. It is known for its extraordinary nutrient density; in fact, it even serves as a primary food source for some animals, such as flamingos. Depending on the environment and the water quality, spirulina develops different phenotypes and nutrient densities, and it can multiply rapidly given optimal conditions. While spirulina has been traditionally cultivated in the Pacific, where it benefits from its preferred alkaline and salty water, today it is cultivated worldwide in inland, man-made spirulina farms as well as in freshwater.
