Hormone scientist, PhDr. in Public Health, research and development
PhDr. Katharina Maria Burkhardt has been working as a hormone scientist, lecturer and supervisor for over 20 years. Her work focuses on researching hormonal imbalances and their effects on physical and mental wellbeing. She is the scientific director of the Society for Human-Identical Hormones (www.humanidente-hormone.at), regularly speaks at specialist conferences and is the author of several specialist books.
She holds a Master’s degree in Psychosocial Counselling and a PhDr. in Health Sciences. She is also a registered alternative practitioner specialising in psychotherapy and a supervisor.
As part of her Master’s thesis (2018/2019), Katharina Maria Burkhardt investigated the links between hormones and their influence on physical and mental wellbeing. She expanded on this research as part of her doctoral thesis (2020/2021) through further case studies on human-identical hormones. She is currently (2022–2026) supervising a clinical trial at the Medical University of Vienna, as well as a preliminary study on measurement methods (serum, saliva) for transdermal hormone delivery.
In addition to her research, K. M. Burkhardt is involved in the development and design of micronutrient supplements (including ‘Sunday’ and ‘Vitalibra’) as well as essence complexes.
In addition, PhDr. Burkhardt has designed and leads a three-year specialist training programme for doctors in the field of integrative, human-identical hormone therapy. In this way, she passes on her expertise not only through research, but also as a lecturer and supervisor to professionals who wish to gain further qualifications in the field of hormone medicine.
