Muña (Minthostachys mollis) grows wild in the region of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco, Peru at an altitude of 2500m. The high mountain climate offers the plants the best growing conditions so that they can develop their natural ingredients in a harmonious ratio. Important ingredients include menthone, pulegone and cis-dihydrocarvone. Our manufacturer works with local partners to collect the leaves of this wild-growing plant. The buds and leaves are sustainably harvested by hand periodically throughout the year, collected and processed into this special essential oil in the company's own distillery using gentle steam. The many years of experience and passion of the employees are reflected in this aromatic oil.

Muña, also known as Andean mint or mint of the Incas (Minthostachys molllis), is a native medicinal plant of the Andes that grows wild at altitudes between 2500m and 3500m above sea level. It is a multi-branched, small-leaved, deciduous shrub and has the unique ability to retain its bright green color even in the icy, dry winters of the Peruvian highlands. Muña is prized for its medicinal and aromatic effects, which date back to the Inca Empire. The traditional uses of muña are numerous; it was mostly drunk as a tea to counteract altitude sickness, nausea and digestive problems or to treat respiratory diseases. The aromatic plant is still used today as a natural insect repellent and to protect the potato harvest.
