How are we different?

A highly pure 5:1 water-ethanol extraction process provides the basis for our high-quality fermented red yeast rice. It is particularly important to us that only food-grade ethanol is used. During the carefully controlled triple fermentation process, which lasts three months, new, beneficial compounds are created, enriched, stabilised or transformed. This leads to the standardised content of purely natural monacolin K, guaranteeing the absence of synthetic active ingredients such as lovastatin and citrinin. Our fermented red yeast rice with monacolin K is also highly bioavailable.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Red Yeast Rice With Monacolin K

Red yeast rice is a product the fermentation of ordinary white rice, which results in the presence of a mould (Monascus purpureus), which gives the rice a reddish-purple colour. Red yeast rice offers a high content of naturally occurring monacolin K, which is chemically identical to lovastatin, a drug used to treat high cholesterol. Monacolins inhibit HMG-CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis.
