How are we different?
Our marigold flower extract is a natural, high-quality source of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which occur naturally in many plants and give them their yellow and orange colour. They can absorb certain wavelengths of light, especially blue components. Lutein and zeaxanthin are also naturally present in certain parts of the human eye.
For our extract, hand-picked marigold flowers are used because of their high pigment content. These are then extracted using only pure, food grade ethanol and dissolved in a small amount of high-quality sunflower oil. We use this method because lutein and zeaxanthin are fat-soluble and exhibit the best bioavailability in a liquid oil phase. Therefore, our capsules consist of lutein and zeaxanthin dissolved in oil, rather than a powder extract. We further dissolve this highly concentrated oil extract in a particularly high-quality, coconut-based MCT oil, in which the medium-chain fatty acids of the carrier oil are themselves a valuable nutrient. This method ensures both a consistent carotenoid content and the optimal availability of the valuable compounds.
Our airtight and leak-proof GreenCaps provide the best possible protection from oxidation for the select oil-based raw materials. The capsule shells are filled under a nitrogen flush and hermetically sealed with an additional sealing ring, optimally guaranteeing the freshness and shelf life of the valuable compounds. The GreenCaps, made from HPMC (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose) are 100% free from additives such as carrageenan, gelatine and PEG, unlike most other HMPC capsule shells on the market. They are vegan, gluten-free and allergen-free.

Tagetes erecta, commonly known as marigold, is a flowering plant originally native to Mexico. It is frequently cultivated for its vibrant yellow and orange blossoms and plays a central role in Mexican culture. The petals of Tagetes erecta are a natural source of carotenoids, which include lutein and zeaxanthin in particular. In the plant, these pigments play a role in light absorption and in providing protection from environmental influences caused by sunlight. Lutein and zeaxanthin also occur naturally in the macula lutea (the yellow spot) and the lens of the human eye.
