These elecampane plants are grown organically by experienced farmers in Corsica. The Mediterranean region, where elecampane is also found in the wild, has an ideal climate for this plant species, which promotes growth and development of special ingredients and aromatic substances such as borneol, bornyl acetate and sesquiterpene lactones. The herb is harvested in October and November, collected and then processed into this aromatic essential oil via steam distillation in the local distillery according to quality standards.

Farm
We source this essential oil from a renowned and certified producer located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The company was founded in the early 20th century and partners with several essential oil crop farms worldwide, ranging from small farms to large producers. The plants' origins and qualities are well monitored and production on these farms adheres to strict quality standards. After harvesting, the plants are either cold pressed or gently steam distilled in a stainless steel tank to release their essential oils. Their first certified organic products date back to 2001.
Elecampane
Elecampane (Inula graveolens) belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is an aromatic annual herb with small yellow-white flowers with a distinct sweet-herbaceous aroma. It originates from the Mediterranean region, North Africa or Asia and now grows as a neophyte in Europe and in temperate climate zones worldwide. The plant is often found on roadsides, overgrazed pastures or cleared open spaces. The essential oil of Inula has a yellow-orange to green color depending on the distillation. In aromatherapy, inula is known as the "queen of expectorant essential oils" as it can be an expectorant and anti-inflammatory for deep congestion.
Aroma
Elecampane oil has a pleasantly camphoraceous, earthy fragrance with a unique, subtly floral, honey-like sweetness.
