How are we different?

Our patented active ingredient KiOnutrime-CsG® is manufactured in Belgium under carefully controlled conditions in accordance with ISO 13485 and HACCP and is the only chitosan that has been classified as FDA-GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Chitosan is a common name for the polysaccharide N-acyl-D-glucosamine, which is a functional cationic biopolymer that is widely researched and used around the world.

However, as it is usually derived from the chitin shells of crabs and other shellfish, it can cause allergic reactions. However, with KiOnutrime-CsG® we use a chitosan from a purely plant-based source, therefore also making it suitable for vegans.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Chitosan

The name chitosan is derived from the Greek word for "shell" because the compound was first discovered in the chitinous shell of crabs and other crustaceans. This naturally occurring biopolymer is a polyaminosaccharide composed of β-1,4-glycosidically linked N-acetylglucosamine residues. It is therefore often referred to as polyglucosamine.

However, there are also some known examples of plant-based or non-animal sources of chitosan. Like all dietary fibres, chitosan is also known for its swelling properties.

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):

- Chitosan contributes to the maintenance of healthy blood cholesterol levels
- Recommended intake of 3g chitosan daily

Dosage

Directions

Take 5 capsules (543mg chitosan per capsule) daily with 200ml water.

Contraindications

Not suitable for children or individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
