How are we different?

Our natural burdock root extract is obtained exclusively from the roots of the greater burdock (Arctium lappa L.) plant. The plants are sourced from pesticide-free cultivation without synthetic fertilisers and are sustainably cultivated by local farmers. Following harvesting in August and September, the roots are gently processed then undergo a water and food-grade ethanol-based extraction process. No solvents such as methanol or acetone are used.

Although questionable carriers such as maltodextrin are often used in the production of extracts, our burdock extract is pure and custom-made for us without the use of carriers and additives. This allows for the preservation of the natural purity of the raw ingredients.

The majority of burdock root capsules on the market contain powder rather than extract. Our product is a concentrated 10:1 extract containing a wide spectrum of components of the root. The 500mg burdock root extract contained per capsule is equivalent to 5g of conventional burdock root powder.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Burdock Root

Greater burdock (Arctium lappa L.) belongs to the daisy family and is characterised by its reddish-purple flowers adorned with spiky bracts, while its roots take on a long, spindle-shaped form. Native to Europe, North America, and northern Asia, this plant predominantly thrives along roadsides. It held a significant role in ancient Greek herbalism and found its place in the herb gardens of historical figures like Hildegard von Bingen and the priest Kneipp.
