How are we different?

A unique premium functional blend with 24 select ingredients, developed with specialist Dr. Philip Catalá-Lehnen. The formula contains natural building blocks of cartilage and synovial fluid, valuable nutrients like vitamin C, manganese, boron or silicon for the structure and function of bones, cartilage and to support the immune system, plus select botanical extracts such as turmeric, green tea or willow bark. All ingredients contained in our Arthriflam Joint Complex—with the sole exception of an organic propolis extract, which is derived from the resin produced by bees—are from purely plant-based sources or from vegan production, such as fermentation.

The basis of this functional blend is formed by natural building blocks for cartilage tissue and synovial fluid: a combination of hyaluronic acid and its precursor glucosamine, as well as the purely plant-based chondroitin alternative Phytodroitin™. In contrast to standard market production methods, our glucosamine is not derived from seafood but from the fermentation of non-GMO maize. Our hyaluronic acid is also obtained via fermentation. It has a medium molecular weight of 800 to 1300 Daltons and contains no micro- or nanoparticles. The natural cartilage component chondroitin also usually comes from animal sources, primarily from bovine, porcine or shark cartilage. Our Phytodroitin™, as a purely plant-based alternative, is obtained from algae through a multi-step, patented process that mimics the structure of animal chondroitin and is therefore suitable for both vegans and vegetarians.

This premium complex is enhanced by a full-spectrum turmeric extract with high-dose curcuminoids and valuable essential oils. This comprehensive extract, with over 200 valuable compounds from the turmeric root, is obtained for us through a patented PNS-technology and special triple extraction. The purely plant-based antioxidants included are: our high-quality OPC from premium grape seeds with a 95% OPC content, astaxanthin from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis (obtained through patented cultivation in pure spring drinking water, not river water), as well as a green tea extract with 99.8% polyphenols, 77% catechins and 47% EGCG. These powerful phytochemicals are embedded in three further botanical extracts, obtained using only water, from rosehips (minimum 5% galactolipids), willow bark (minimum 15% salicin), and tamarind tree seeds. A special feature of this functional blend is a premium-quality organic propolis dry extract with 12% polyphenols.

The micronutrient selection for this unique functional blend includes the special active ingredient PureWay-C® (vitamin C coated with bioflavonoids and plant-based fatty acids), a vitamin E complex from sunflower oil with all 4 tocopherols & 4 tocotrienols, vitamin D as a premium vegan D3 raw material from an exclusive custom formulation, and vitamin A as vegan retinyl palmitate, which can be easily converted by all individuals into directly bioactive vitamin A. The trace elements zinc, manganese, molybdenum and boron are included as highly bioavailable zinc bisglycinate, manganese gluconate, sodium molybdate and sodium borate (borax) with a purity of at least 98%. The sources for silicon and selenium are a silicon-rich, natural bamboo shoot extract and organic selenium from nutritional yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) with 84% selenomethionine. Lastly, as a source of organic sulphur, we use OptiMSM®, a premium active ingredient from the American quality producer Bergstrom Nutrition. It is produced not by crystallisation, but by a patented four-stage distillation process. Distillation allows for the complete separation of the MSM and leads to a final product of 99.8% pure MSM without any impurities. OptiMSM® is the only MSM active ingredient in the world produced by this method. Each OptiMSM batch is lab-tested to ensure optimal purity, quality and consistency. This complex is completed by the amino acid glycine as a vegan pure substance with at least 98% purity, and ubiquinone, the oxidised form of Coenzyme Q10, which can also be produced by the body itself.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We use environmentally friendly amber glass jars for the packaging of this product.

Effects

Glucosamine is an essential, endogenous amino acid sugar with a high structural viscosity (malleability) and a precursor of hyaluronic acid. Glucosamine is the main building block for the synthesis of proteoglycans and the D-glucosamine sulphate is the bioactive sulphuric acid salt of the aminosaccharide D-glucosamine and, unlike glucosamine HCl, contains organically bound sulphur.

Phytodroitin™ is a purely plant-based alternative to chondroitin, which is produced from algae and has a high mucopolysaccharide content. Chondroitin is also an important component of proteoglycans and is particularly important for cartilage tissue.

Among other things, vitamin C is involved in the formation of the structural protein collagen (skin, cartilage, bones, blood vessels) in the human body.

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):

  • Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation and the normal function of bones and cartilage.
  • Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus, a normal calcium level in the blood, the maintenance of bones and the maintenance of normal muscle function.
  • Manganese contributes to normal connective tissue formation.
  • Zinc and manganese contribute to the maintenance of normal bones.
  • Zinc contributes to normal acid-base metabolism, normal metabolism of macronutrients and normal protein synthesis.
  • Molybdenum contributes to the normal metabolism of sulphur-containing amino acids.
  • Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the nervous system.
  • Vitamin C and manganese contribute to normal energy metabolism.
  • Vitamins D, C and A, selenium and zinc contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
  • Vitamins C and E, zinc, selenium and manganese contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Dosage

Directions

Take 4 capsules with 200ml of water before a meal twice daily, preferably on an empty stomach.

Contraindications

Do not combine with other products containing green tea or astaxanthin esters. Not suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Not recommended for children.
