The thyme plants used to create this essential oil thrive in the picturesque countryside in the heart of Provence. The mineral-rich soil, as well as other climatic influences including the ideal temperature of the region, contribute to the healthy and fully developed spectrum of aromatic compounds naturally present in the plants, such as myrcene and alpha-pinene, creating a harmonious scent in the essential oil. The thyme (ct. Thujanol) is grown and nurtured by experienced farmers and harvested when in bloom. After harvesting, the aromatic plants are gently steam distilled in the farm's on-site distillery to produce this special essential oil.

Farm

This essential oil is manufactured by a family-run company in France. Founded in 1990 and specialising in the organic cultivation of indigenous aromatic plants, the business now works with local farmers worldwide. Their many years of experience in organic cultivation, as well as the passion they imbue into all levels of production, are reflected in the harmoniously balanced essential oils they produce. Their aromas, obtained either from steam distillation or cold pressing, are well recognised in the perfume industry, and their entire product range is EU certified organic.

Thyme

This variety of thyme (Thymus vulgaris ct. thujanol), a member of the Lamiaceae family, is the most common and is popularly used as a herb in the kitchen. Originally found in the western Mediterranean region as well as across the sea in southern Italy, it forms different compounds depending on its environment; this leads to the different thyme chemotypes (ct.), including linalool, thymol, geraniol and thujanol. These compounds are all naturally present in essential oil of thyme, though to varying degrees. This particular variety, for example, develops a high concentration of thujanol. Between late spring and early summer, it forms whorled clusters of flowers in colours ranging from bright purple to white.

Aroma

The herbaceous, fresh scent has a strong cleansing and stimulating effect. The powerful aroma aids concentration, promotes self-confidence and allows the body to breathe freely.
