How are we different?
Natural Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 is found almost exclusively in animal sources in its bioactive form. In contrast, plants contain the significantly less effective vitamin D2. Lanolin (wool wax) from sheep is therefore a proven source for obtaining bioactive vitamin D3. Following gentle extraction and intensive purification, we obtain an exceptionally pure D3 crystallisate as the active ingredient for our vegetarian Sunferol® D3. This forms the basis of our natural, premium-quality vitamin D3 products.
All-trans Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 exists in various molecular forms, designated as MK4 and MK7 based on the length of their side chains. However, further variants exist within the MK7 form. Only the trans form possesses full biological efficacy. An active ingredient declared as all-trans must therefore consist of at least 98% vitamin K2 MK7 in this active trans form. Particular caution is required specifically regarding vitamin K2. Despite manufacturer claims, widespread mislabelling occurs across the market. Independent laboratory tests show that many supplements declared as all-trans K2 often actually contain only minimal amounts of all-trans vitamin K2. Our original Sunquinone® K2 is a branded active ingredient with an exceptionally high MK7 all-trans content within the raw material of approximately 99.8%. Conventional D3/K2 ingredients are often combined with a variety of questionable additives that do not require declaration, such as synthetic vitamin E, ascorbyl palmitate, silicon dioxide, modified starch, sucrose, denatured vegetable oils, and maltodextrin. Our active ingredients are produced by a specialised manufacturer using a time-intensive process that adheres strictly to our specifications. MCT Oil Base: Improved Absorption and Stability
Vitamin D3 and K2 are fat-soluble and are therefore only absorbed in conjunction with fat. That is why we use an exceptionally high-quality MCT oil based on coconut as a carrier oil. Vitamin D
Vitamin D3 naturally occurs almost exclusively in animal sources, particularly in fish, dairy products, eggs and meat. Plants, such as lichens and various fungi, contain only very small amounts of the much less effective form of vitamin D2.
Vitamin D plays a very important role in the body. It is one of the few vitamins that is not absorbed directly from food, but rather produced by skin cells from sunlight. It is not a vitamin in the traditional sense of the word, but rather a pro-hormone. In contrast to many other vitamins, vitamin D is converted into an important hormone which regulates cell functioning and bodily processes. Almost all bodily cells have special receptors for the vitamin D hormone that are dependent on sufficient supply.
Vitamin D and vitamin K2 are cofactors in the regulation of calcium metabolism. Together, the two vitamins control the formation and breakdown of bone cells and important transport molecules that ensure the correct utilisation of calcium. Our vitamin D3 and K2 MK-7 combines the two nutrients in a ratio that ensures optimal synergy.
Vitamin D is still being intensively researched. New mechanisms of action of this fascinating vitamin are discovered almost every year. So far, the following statements on vitamin D have been released by the EU (EFSA):

Vitamin K2 exists in various forms, which have different levels of effectiveness. Vitamin K2 MK-7 is considered by far the most effective form of K2 today. However, since vitamin K2 molecules occur in a variety chemical structures (the so-called cis–trans isomers of vitamin K2), there are considerable differences in efficacy even between different vitamin K2 MK-7 compounds. It is believed that only the trans forms can be utilised by the body.

Vitamin D
The different information on the exact dosage of vitamin D can be confusing. Recommendations vary greatly from organisation to organisation.
For adults, for example, the EU recommends 200 IU, while the German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends 800 IU. However, many researchers and non-profit organisations consider these recommendations to be too low to prevent a deficiency or maintain vitamin D levels.
Vitamin K2
Although the German Nutrition Society recommends a total intake of at least 70µg vitamin K per day, there are currently no recommendations for vitamin K2 specifically.
