Our tiger nuts are sourced from certified organic cultivation in Niger. They are cultivated according to traditional methods, using only rainwater and no additional irrigation, and thrive in the hot, dry climate. The intense sun during the summer months in Niger contributes to the abundance of nutrients found within the small tubers, and their uniquely sweet and nutty flavour.
Our supplier is a family-run collective of local farmers that has existed for over 20 years. The collective not only works to protect nature through its sustainable cultivation practices, but also pays fair wages which exceeds far from the industry's minimum wage requirements.
The tiger nuts are not roasted, only gently dried. This allows them to retain their full raw food quality and the entire spectrum of valuable ingredients. Once dried, tiger nuts can be stored for a long period of time. They are then shipped to Spain, where they get gently milled into a fine flour.
We use high-quality, resealable airtight flavour protection bags. A 7-fold coating with high barrier security provides the contents with the best possible protection against moisture, oxidation and the effects of harmful substances.
