How are we different?

Our premium TMG betaine provides betaine in the form of a natural, plant-based active ingredient in the purest quality. The sugar beet syrup which is produced during sugar production is naturally rich in betaine and other amino acids. The name of this amino acid compound is derived from the botanical name of the sugar beet: Beta vulgaris. Our 100% vegan raw material is obtained in the EU via a complex extraction process.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

  • Premium active ingredients in their purest form
  • Sourced directly from the world’s best producers
  • Our select raw materials are the basis of all our formulations
  • Complete avoidance of all unnecessary additives and adjuvants
  • Exclusive use of valuable natural ingredients for additives
  • We voluntarily declare all ingredients
  • All extractions performed without the use of chemical solvents
  • Custom production when necessary, in order to achieve the highest possible level of purity
  • Independent laboratory testing available on product pages
  • Raw materials sourced only from premium suppliers who are committed to fair working conditions
  • Amber glass and compostable pouches used for packaging
  • Vegan capsule shells, free from PEG and carrageenans
  • Packaged in the EU according to HACCP, GMP and ISO 22000:2018 standards
  • Stored in non-toxic containers
  • Shipped in mineral oil-free boxes
  • All products guaranteed 100% free from magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, nanoparticles (no legal opportunism), genetic engineering, artificial colours and flavours, titanium dioxide and added sugar & sweeteners

Betaine, also known as trimethylglycine (TMG), is produced by the body through the oxidation of choline, a compound which was, until recently, known as vitamin B4 and counted among the B vitamins. TMG betaine is an activated form of choline.

Due to its three methyl groups, TMG betaine is an important methyl donor. Among many functions, these methyl groups contribute to the endogenous synthesis of creatine, methionine, lecithin and carnitine as well as the conversion of homocysteine, a harmful amino acid, into methionine. Betaine thus contributes to the reduction of homocysteine levels. The production of methionine also supports the synthesis of S-adenosyl methionine, a central methyl donor in humans which plays a role in numerous reactions.

Betaine is also an osmolyte, which means it controls the fluid balance of cells.

Health Benefits of Betaine

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), betaine contributes to:

  • Normal homocysteine metabolism

Recommended Dosage

Take 1 capsule (500mg TMG betaine) before a meal with 200ml water daily.

Daily Requirements

There are no official dietary guidelines for betaine. This compound can be synthesised by the body itself, so many people can completely cover their daily requirements endogenously. The following recommendation for dietary supplementation is stated in the literature:

Betaine/TMG: 500mg to 2,000mg

Food Supplement

Do not exceed the recommended dose. Food supplements cannot replace a balanced and varied diet. Keep out of reach of children.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

In addition to the eight essential B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12), there are vitamin-like compounds, or vitaminoids, that work closely with the B vitamins as cofactors and were therefore counted as B vitamins themselves until recently. In ideal conditions, these cofactors can be produced by the body itself. Particularly when taking high doses of B vitamins, it is important to ensure a parallel supply of these compounds to avoid nutritional imbalances:

  • Choline (formerly vitamin B4) is mainly found in the form of phosphatidylcholine (lecithin) and acetylcholine.
  • Betaine (in the form of trimethylglycine/TMG) is another activated form of choline which plays an important role in the methylation cycle as well as in homocysteine metabolism.
  • Inositol (formerly vitamin B8) is found primarily in the brain, liver and kidneys.
  • PABA (formerly vitamin B10) functions as a coenzyme and is involved in the formation of red blood cells via vitamin B9.
