How are we different?
Our premium betaine (TMG) is derived from sugar beet syrup, which is naturally rich in betaine and other amino acids. This plant-based raw material is of the highest purity and is obtained in the EU via a complex extraction process. The name of this amino acid compound is derived from the botanical name of the sugar beet (Beta vulgaris).
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
Effects
Betaine
Betaine, also known as trimethylglycine (TMG), is produced by the body through the oxidation of choline, a compound which was, until recently, known as vitamin B4 and counted among the B vitamins. TMG betaine is an activated form of choline.
Due to its 3 methyl groups, betaine is an important methyl donor. Among many functions, these methyl groups contribute to the endogenous synthesis of creatine, methionine, lecithin and carnitine as well as the conversion of homocysteine, a harmful amino acid, into methionine. Betaine thus contributes to the reduction of homocysteine levels. The production of methionine also supports the synthesis of S-adenosyl methionine, a central methyl donor in humans which plays a role in numerous reactions.
According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):
Betaine contributes to:
- Normal homocysteine metabolism
Dosage
Directions
Take 1 capsule (500mg TMG betaine) before a meal with 200ml water daily.
Daily Requirements
There are no official dietary guidelines for betaine. This compound can be synthesised by the body itself, so many people can completely cover their daily requirements endogenously. The following recommendation for dietary supplementation is stated in the literature:
Betaine/TMG: 500mg to 2000mg
Food Supplement
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

Laboratory Tests
The purity of our formulas is important to us. This is why we have both our raw ingredients as well as our finished products extensively tested by independent laboratories to confirm purity and active ingredient content. Here, we have provided the results of some of the tests carried out on this product.
