How are we different?
Our potassium citrate has a high concentration of 35% potassium. A citrate compound is made from the salt of citric acid and is therefore an organic, slightly alkaline substance that naturally occurs in the body. Citrates are metabolised in the citrate cycle, which is an important component of energy production in cells. Neither citric acid nor its salt, citrate, cause allergic reactions in those with orange or citrus fruit allergies. Since citrates are only slightly basic, they are bioavailable and well tolerated without neutralising digestive acid or alkalising the intestinal environment.
The potassium citrate that we use is not synthetic, but rather derived from plant-based fermentation. The raw ingredient for our potassium citrate is 100% non-GMO corn. Microbes metabolise the corn into potassium citrate that, as a final product, is free from corn, histamine, and yeast. Our potassium citrate is also completely vegan, well-tolerated, and free from chemical residues.

Potassium is the third most common mineral in the body and an essential electrolyte. Sports as well as daily stress can increase bodily requirements for minerals such as potassium. Approximately 98% of all potassium in the body can be found inside the cells while its major counterpart, sodium, is mostly concentrated outside of cells. A balanced ratio of these minerals lays an important foundation for a number of bodily reactions including enzymatic metabolic processes. Modern diets, which are often heavy in salt, can easily bring this system out of balance so that the body has insufficient plant-based potassium to counterbalance an excess of sodium. In fact, too much sodium can even lead to the expulsion of potassium from the body via the kidneys. Since potassium cannot be stored in the body, daily intake is required to maintain balance within the body.
One of the main functions of potassium is the initiation and management of signal transmission in the nerves and muscles, including the heart. Potassium is decisive in the maintenance of water as well as electrolyte balance and thereby cell pressure and acid-base balance. As a cofactor for numerous enzymes, potassium activates various processes of cell division, growth, and energy production. Potassium further has an influence on the maintenance of normal blood pressure and exerts influence on insulin metabolism.

Stir 1-5 spoonfuls (1,130mg potassium citrate per spoonful) into 200ml water.
Daily Requirements
Sodium-rich diets can contribute to a potassium deficiency. The recommended daily potassium intake has been increased in recent years from 2,000mg to 4,000mg.
Warning
Caution is necessary in cases of limited potassium excretion as a result of kidney disease or certain medications (such as diuretics, antihypertensives, and painkillers). Even slight fluctuations in (extracellular) blood potassium levels can lead to serious neuromuscular and muscular disorders.
