Finest Origin

This immortelle, (Helichrysum italicum) grows wild on the Karst Plateau in southwestern Herzegovina. With its unique, nutritious soil and pure waters, influenced by the Mediterranean climate, this region offers the local flora a particularly favourable terroir. The plants' growth is directly affected by quality of the soil on the Karst Plateau, which is enriched by its close proximity to the Adriatic Sea, the high altitude and the characteristic limestone and red clay rock, known as Terra Rossa, combined with steady winds that dry out the limestone. This essential oil is a slightly different chemotype than that of the immortelle oil from Corsica or Italy; it has a higher content of curcumin sesquiterpenes and a distinct sweet, dry undertone of tea leaves. The wild-growing plants are collected between June and July and made into this unique essential oil at the farm's onsite distillery.

Farm

This essential oil is produced by a small business based in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with extensive expertise in producing essential oils from wild-growing native plants. The producers have developed a unique method to collect the seeds without disturbing the plants' natural processes. The seeds are gathered from naturally occurring wild plants in Herzegovina, which are then grown into saplings in harmony with nature, and then replanted in their original natural habitat. These wild-growing plants are used to produce high-quality and pure essential oils.

Immortelle

Immortelle, (Helichrysum italicum) also known as the curry plant or Italian strawflower, belongs to the aster family (Asteraceae) and can mainly be found around the Mediterranean. It grows wild there on very dry, stony soils and along rocky slopes. The name Helichrysum comes from the ancient Greek words "Helios", meaning sun, and "chrysos" – gold. The shrub-like plant grows up to 50cm tall and forms lanceolate, silvery-green leaves and golden-yellow, round flowers in summer. Immortelle is one of many medicinal plants in European herbal medicine that is known for its skin-regenerating effects.

Aroma

The intensely warm, sweetly balsamic, hay-like aroma with honey tones is considered to be emotionally calming, soothing and stabilising. It can help to energise and overcome intense emotions. The sweet, circulating, harmonising aroma activates our vital energy (Qi) and helps calm the heart.
