Organic Gyokuro Shibushi, Premium (92/100 p.)


This masterful gyokuro is the perfect tea for those who want to drink a larger quantity of gyokuro. Pleasant umami with a full-bodied and strong flavour. The taste is balanced between a distinctive sweetness and lightly bitter notes, very nourishing.

Organic Sencha Kirishima, Premium (92/100 p.)


A mountain sencha with a well-rounded taste, from the choice terroir of Makizono in Kirishima. The high elevation in the idyllic Kirishima Mountains lends this tea a pleasant taste that is full of character, yet sweet and mild. The leaves of the southern cultivars in this blend yield a full-bodied taste as a result of the superb growing conditions of the terroir as well as the brief steaming of the leaves themselves.

Organic Bancha Kaori, Premium (92/100 p.)


Aromatic and fresh, low caffeine organic bancha made from the rare kariban (刈番) middle harvest before the meban harvest. Custom-made for Sunday by the renowned organic farms Nishi and Nuruki Seicha in Kagoshima. Ideal as an evening tea.

Character

Three main types of green tea

Due to the production and plant parts used, each green tea variety has its own individual ingredients and character. For the basic set, we have compiled the three or four most important Japanese green tea varieties for daily consumption and all times of day for you:

Gyokuro (lots of umami / amino acids): in the morning
Sencha (bitter substances): at noon
Bancha (basic / mineral, mild): in the evening
Matcha (much umami / amino acids): in the morning

Preparation

All teas: 2 heaped tsp, 60°C, 100-300ml, 2 min. Suitable for multiple infusions.

Packaging

Packed in a particularly high-quality, airtight aroma protection bag with zipper and stand-up bottom. Extremely high barrier security is achieved by a 9-fold coating for maximum protection against harmful substances. In addition, each bag is vacuum packed according to the best packaging standards in Japan and a little nitrogen is added so that the tea is protected from oxidation in the best possible way.

Recommended teapot

Ideal for these teas is a black tokoname kyusu (reduction brandy, all-rounder for all types of green tea).

Recommended tea caddy

Ideal for all teas is a high quality tea caddy made of cherry bark (solid wood, Kabazaiku Chazutsu), alternatively a cheaper, internally coated, airtight tea caddy.
